Some new work and other randomness...

Well, I suppose it had to happen sometime. I've been getting a lot of spam comments on this blog, so I've switched to moderating comments. Naughty spammers.

Remember this can? I do. We always ate Spam when we went camping. And I LIKED it. Salt and fat, I guess.
I wanted to share what I get to see everyone morning at about 6:30 a.m., up at the bus stop with my youngest (who isn't so young any more). We just had the truck washed, so the sunrise is reflecting off of the hood. Looks like an abstract painting.

I finished two little skelly pirate dolls. They look like they're waiting to go to the dentist. Slightly anxious.

And I finished one dancing skelly painting. This is the 'before'.

And this is the 'after'. The colors are much brighter that these in person, but you get the idea. Happy skeletons dancing in a graveyard with a little church in the background. There's a dog skeleton hopping around, and a tiny cat skeleton sitting on top of a tombstone.

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to get back into collage and this little dog popped into my head. I used paper (tissue paper, scrapbook paper, and doilies), fabric remnants, and lots of gel medium. I used my brand spanking new inktense pencils, too.

I was on Facebook and saw this trailer. Part of me wants to live this small. Just chuck out everything that doesn't fit in something this size. Of course, once the DH and I squeeze in here, there would be no room for my art supplies, so I'd need to drag another trailer behind me. A studio trailer. And another trailer for my dogs and cats to play in.
And I am betting kids and guests won't fit in here with me and the DH.
Nope. I'd need a trailer train.

They'll see me coming for miles. Toot! Toot!
Happy creating!

  1. How fun to be riding in that trailer you speak of. Great pictures, love it and your skelly paintings and dolls. I know what you mean about wanting to live "small" so to speak. One accumulates too many "things" throughout life. Loved your post, fun and chipper. I could almost see a smile on your face, I know there was one on my face.:) Take care and have a great day.

  3. Love your new dolls and your paintings are wonderful as always. I want to live small too but would need a second small house just for my studio and I'd like mine to not move. ;0)

  4. You're having way to many creative moments! I think you must have gotten my share of them lately. I'm still working at getting better with my new pencils and think I'm improving and then I see that adorable dog and there goes all of my new gained confidence. Your skelly painting is fantastic and those two skelly pirates are way cute. BTW I think I'm going to have my carpenter son build me that trailer. Years ago when we lived in California I saw one along the same lines and wanted one then. I wouldn't want to have a train of them though. ;0) Have a great day. xox

  12. Trailer train! I'd like to ride in one of those. If you let me ride, I'll bring you a can of Spam. I like Spam too. Sliced and fried...mmm. My kids think it's too salty.

Your quip about the dolls waiting to see the dentist cracked me up! Hahaha, so cute. And your dancing skellies are awesome. Dog skelly -- totally cool!

LOVE your collage! Whoa, that's wonderful!

  19. Hi Pam! It's been a long while but I was finally getting around to blog hopping some of my favorite peoples and here I am! Hope you are well! I love your doggy collage - it made me remember Leo Lionni and Eric Carle books, some of my most favorite. Add a trailer for me to follow . . . what an adventure you would lead!
