What I've been doing...

Hey all!

So here we are, fully entrenched in 2012. What have you all been up to? I have been writing, writing, writing. We have two more college tuitions staring at us, and the DH and I would like to have enough Mac n' Cheese to live off of in the future. Such is life today, no? Hurry scurry.

I did sneak in some painting before I started my writing project. I have been on a 'critters wearing crowns' bender. Now I am on a 'Wednesday Addams' bender, and I'm going to make a doll or two. I love Charles Addams, and I will admit to watching the TV show faithfully. What I truly, dearly love are the cartoons he did for The New Yorker. (That's him above, sitting the chair with the helmet on.)
And you gotta love that when he died, he was cremated, and his ashes were sprinkled in the pet cemetery he had at his home, called The Swamp.

I do so love oddballs. I wonder why.

Here are my paintings:
This last one is a little Wednesday.
Yes, I am a little odd myself. Thank you for noticing.

  1. I'm a little odd too. I like odd. Love the paintings especially the skellie with the coffee? Best of luck on the writing!

  2. So what is your point? Odd is totally great and I did not know Charles but I can tell by your description I would have loved him. The paintings are wonderful!!! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

  3. Love the paintings! Sometimes odd is better! Xo Becca

  4. A LITTLE ODD?????!!!!!???????? No my dear, you are mucho odd!! LOL But then that's one of the many reasons I love you soooo!! Ya know what they say about "bird's of a feather??" Wink, wink, nudge, nudge!!!!

Of course, I love your new stuff and as for the Addams familia, I too was a constant fan...loved that Thing!! In fact, they had the movie on the other day...was sooo in love with Raul Julia...what a great actor...he is missed.

Anyway, keep on doing your thang, ya know we love eet!!

  5. Here's to all oddballs, including me! I love your style of painting; on the surface it appears simple, yet I could never do anything like them...I lack the brilliant mind with the ideas. **kisskiss** Deb

  6. Pam I just LOVE your new stuff! And Wednesday totally rocks.....I always loved Addams work, and he had the BEST signature, which I usually never notice.
As to the mac and cheese, I will be glad to send you a case to keep you full of energy. Additions to said mac and cheese are of course, up to you.
And if there's too much, you could always use the macaroni for crafts like we did in grade school! ;-D
You totally rock my dear friend!
    And ODD ROCKS TOO!!!

    Love from the cue-ball~~

  7. Jen - That's why I like you! Odd is much better than not odd (say that 5 times fast). xox!

Mary Helen - Oh, you know me! There is NO point! Just me rambling on.
Nothing odd about that. he he. xo!

Georgina - Te quiero mucho, mi loca amiga (how's THAT for Spanish, heh?). Life would be pretty boring with my odd pals. xox!

  8. Hi Deb! You have a much brillianter (haha) mind that moi. As for the paintings, they're pretty straightforward, painting-wise. Nothing fancy here, I assure you. Good to see you! xox!

Anne!!! I have been meaning to call you. We'll have to set up a time to rant soon. You are the cutest cue-ball out there. xox!

  9. Just pop me an e-mail~~I've got chemo Wednesday so after Thursday I'll be semi-useless.
Not that I want you to think I only want to talk when I'm useless...well, that didn't come out right at all but you know what I mean.....
    Just e-mail me Baby! :-D

  10. if you're odd...what does that make the rest of us who love your stuff!!!

  11. I'm odd too so you are in good company!!

I LOVE all the new work!

  12. Anne - I will email you! xo

Mim - I feel like I am in excellent oddball company. And thank you! xo

LuLu - We need some t-shirt!!!! Oddballs, Inc. ;) xo

  13. Un travail excentrique qui me plaît beaucoup... Vos animaux sont géniaux...
    Gros bisous

  14. Whoa! Addams would have loved those paintings--as do I. I would have to say that he's my second favorite cartoonist, Gary Larson being first. Do you like Larson?

  15. Odd is way better than Old!
I can't believe all of the treasures you create! And none of them have chocolate stains on are amazing♥♥♥

  16. Sweet Bear - thank you so much!

Martine - Merci beaucoup, mon ami!

Snow - thank you! I love Gary Larson, and Gahan Wilson, too. Do you know him? He used to have illustrations in Playboy (among other places). Quirky weird, like Larson.

Lisa - Oh, I paint over the chocolate stains, my friend! hahaha! Thank you very much!

  17. "Gahan Wilson, too. Do you know him?"

Only the name, but I can assure you that I'll be looking him up. Have you read "The PreHistory of the Far Side," in which Gary Larson talks about how individual cartoons were created, relations with his editors, complaints from readers, etc?

  18. Ooh, look what my local library has (among other of his books): "Gahan Wilson : fifty years of Playboy cartoons." Let's see, shall I bike over today or tomorrow...?

  19. Snow - I haven't read that, but I was just looking at some books on Charles Addams (on Amazon), and I will see if my library has any of these. Let me know what you think of the Gahan book! :)

  20. hi pam, finally blogger has allowed me to comment!

Aww, what fabulous paintings! I love all your rich colors! But my favorite has to be the one without much color -- Wednesday! Ooooooooooooh hehehehehehehe!

    Happy New Year, Pam!

  22. Aren't most creative people a little??? I love this post. How fabulous! The illustrations are fabulous as well. I am so glad to hear that you are writing and I hope to do the same very shortly. Just cleaning up my desk a bit so I can do that. Hope that the new year is off to a good start for you. Best to you always,

  25. You odd? I wouldn't have guessed. I love these whimsical works of art and love the vibrant colors. Saying that would you believe little Wednesday is my favorite? xoxo

  26. wow your paintings have brought such a smile on my face today. I love that skelly with his spiffy cup of joe I think the best. Although they are all fantastic, something about that happy rainbow coming out of it makes me chuckle. I love oddball crap too. I was a regular watcher of the Addams Family as well.

  27. You know, a compliment from you is something to treasure cause you are the master at making wonderfulness! Seriously, thanks so much for you very kind words. I so appreciate you taking time to come and visit. It means the world to me. Have a greatly creative weekend my friend.

  28. I love the whale and the skelly with the steaming hot coffee! You have been a busy gal!

  29. Holy moly! You are the busiest and most productive person I know Miss Pammie!

Love all your new paintings, so much fun.

I'm doing my whirly twirly dance and incantations over here that you and the Smallcomb clan shall not want for Mac and Cheese, all the live long day. And beyond.

    Happy happy 2012!

    Sally xoxoxo
