Laptop=croaked=awol

Well, it had to happen sometime. My beloved Mac laptop kicked the bucket. I am working on Caity's old HP which has Unix. GAK! I am too old to learn new things! Can you see me kicking and screaming from where you are? No? Well, trust me, I am.

On to holiday cheer!I live in a lovely part of the world. It's near a little town called Mt. Airy. In the historic district is a little shop called Ben Gue's. It's hard to explain this shop except to say that when you walk in, it is packed to the brim with gifts, leaning toward country and folk art. You can hardly move through it without touching something (or maybe that's just me needing a DIET...ahem).

The store has a basement dedicated to Christmas. You walk down narrow stairs into a space crammed with Santas, angels, and snowmen. It is very easy to get lost down there.

Here are a couple of pictures the DH took with his phone. That's my blurry head back there, trying to pick out this year's snowman. What? You don't buy a snowman every year? Huh.
The new snowmen are living in the Snowman Village in the dining room.

Now you are telling me that you don't have a Snowman Village in your dining room?
What is the world coming to?

I am going to post this before I accidentally hit the wrong key and delete it. Good news: a Mac is on the way from Santa!

HO HO HO!!

  1. Oh dear...I so know what you mean about learning new things. I haven't decided for me if it's learning new things or just old habits die hard..LOL!!

I'm sure the store is built that way.....that things reach out for you. That's what it is!!
I would love to "squeeze" through the aisle and look myself. So quaint and sweet!!

Hmmmmmmm....I don't have a snowman collection but I do have a Christmas village collection. Perhaps I will make a snowman to go with it this year. Will that count? :)

    HUGS my sweet friend!!

  5. You poor dear, don't you just hate it when something you rely on, dare I say depend on goes belly up? I know I do. As for getting a new snowman every year, why only one? I get any that strike my fancy which nearly every one I see does and I have friends and family trained to give them to me as gifts. My snowman village is located in the living room where I also have my teddy bear figures and of course a few Santas. Hang in there, Christmas is nearly here and maybe you won't have to wait the whole time for the new Mac. Hugs

  7. No snowmen here and luckily none outside! :)
In fact, I can't even find the energy to pull out the Xmas decorations. Maybe just some tinsel thrown over the piles of laundry and such will suffice?
You must have been a good girl for Santa to bring you a Mac! I can't believe it's already December! But at least the wait won't be long!

  8. Awwww, boooo for the broken Mac. I have a broken laptop too. Gosh, is it too late to ask Santa for a new one? On second thought, maybe I should be saying, YAY for the broken Mac! Hope he brings you a fancy schmancy mega fast one. :)

I LOVE little shops like Ben Gue's! Whoa, look at all that STUFF! I wish there were stores like that in my area.

Be nice to your new snowmen!

  10. Sorry about your lap top! So glad Santa will bring you a new one! What a fun & festive town you live in. All our snow melted the 6 inches we had! I thought they were going to cancel school but no. I was a freak trying to remember where I put my boys boots. :) xo Becca

  11. Hi Pam! oh no! I'm so very sorry to hear of the passing of your laptop!!! I'm so afraid that one day my computer will share a similar fate - were you able to retrieve everything before hand?
I tried to take a peek of your personage and you are indeed blurry but very cute! ;) Wishing you lots of fun with your holiday village - I had a girlfriend when I was little whose father put up a village every December in their enclosed porch with a train going through and a skating rink ... a holiday extravaganza! So magical to see as a kid. My parents could barely put up a tree, slaggards. ;)
Happy happy December to you and all your dear ones!

  14. I so feel for you and your laptop, you are right we are to old to be learning something new. Just seems to take so much longer to learn it these days. You always seem to find the coolest shops! I sure hope that Santa stops at your home early so you don't have to use all of the energy kicking and screaming. LOL
