When it's hot outside...

...it can get a little spooky inside Casa Smallcomb. While Barbie is off at the 'spa' getting her new look, I decided to play with textures on canvas. I decided what these little canvases needed was some skelliness.

This one is called "Home, Sweet Home". I used all sorts of gel mediums, and tissue paper and crackle on the canvas before I added the sweet little skelly girl.
"Best Friends"

These are small canvases, about 3 x 5. They are the perfect size for spooky little experiments.

"Lou Anne"
You can see the paper doily I used in the background. One thing I am learning, if I want the background to have any color left after I crackle-finish it, I have to start with really bright colors. The background colors for Lou Anne were bright red and yellow.

Okay, that's enough weirdness for now. I'll go call the spa and see how Barbie is doing.

  14. Cool stuff Pam ! The second picture could be called "My Skellie Sister"...
Love the doilies on the backgrounds - done like this, with crackle etc, they look kind of like cogs, wheels and metal pieces. A bit "steampunk skellie" perhaps...

  15. Hello everyone! Thank you for your lovely comments. We are melting here in MD, so I am hiding in the laboratory and drinking iced tea with Igor.

Anne - you know as well as I do that it's always weird here. Birds of a feather, etc. :)

Lisa - Aw, thank you so much! I am going to go back and drool all over the shrines. It's times like this I wish I was rolling in $$. :)

Cindi - I am melting, too. And it is going to be even hotter tomorrow. Thank you thank you! I
had so much fun making them, I am making more! Bwa haha! :)

Maddy - thanks so much! I love skellys, too. I have been thinking a lot about Halloween. Can you tell? :)

Annie - We are sweltering here! Is it hot there, too? Stay cool and thank you, thank you!

Lizzie - You and I are thinking the same thing, my friend. I am thinking steampunk next round. I have to see what I can find to add in. But you're right, the doily does look a little gear-like. :)

  19. Hi Pam!

Oh! I love these, so very spooooookkkkyyy! tremble tremble

You must tell me what steam punk is, I keep seeing the words everywhere and this old lady hasn't got a clue. I know I am enjoying everything with the label but can't figure out the meaning. ACK! no fun to be old and out of it.

Time is so very weird for me ... I can't believe it's nearly the weekend again and yet it also feels as if time has been suspended and I'm/it's, not moving forward AT ALL.

Is it due to lack of chocolate you 'spose???!

    Happy Thursday,
    Sally xoxoxo

  21. Sally - when all else fails, quote wikipedia!

"Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction, alternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian era Britain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy."

I always think of it like Jules Verne meets high tech. :)

  22. Kj - The last one is ME. Bad hair and cranky from the heat. :) Skellys, etc. always get an interesting reaction from people. I never like to go completely 'dark' with my stuff, but I do like to make things that go bump in the night. :) It's my own little form of therapy, I guess. Then after a few of these, I'll want to make something sweet. It's like eating something sour and then craving something sweet! lol! Love back atcha.

Rorschach test, or in your case, perhaps
a Roar Shock test ??? What do you think
